Why do Saudi taxi companies request passport details/visa copies for booking

Visiting Madinah is not a required component of Hajj or Umrah, but it holds deep spiritual significance for many pilgrims. Travelers may choose to visit the city either before or after completing their Hajj or Umrah rites. Unlike the pilgrimage rituals, visiting Madinah or the Prophet’s Mosque does not require donning the ihram or reciting the talbiyah

The Importance of the Prophet’s Mosque

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) personally participated in the construction of Masjid an-Nabawi, lovingly referring to it as “My Mosque.” He led prayers there for many years and taught his companions within its sacred walls. He also said that offering a prayer in Masjid an-Nabawi is more rewarding than in any other mosque, except for the Sacred Mosque in Makkah.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“Whoever performs forty prayers consecutively in my mosque, without missing a single one, will be safeguarded from the Fire, punishment, and hypocrisy.” (Ahmad)

Islam places great importance on visiting three sacred mosques: the Ka`bah in Makkah, the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, and Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem. After completing Hajj or Umrah, it is highly recommended to visit the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. This mosque is distinguished by its five minarets and the iconic green dome marking the resting place of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Upon entering the mosque, pilgrims should reflect on the Prophet’s teachings and the legacy he left behind. He educated the early Muslim community, instilled values of brotherhood, justice, and equality, and laid the foundation for a thriving Islamic society. Upon entry, it is recommended to pray two rak‘ahs of greeting the mosque (tahiyyat al-masjid), and then proceed to visit the Prophet’s grave, offering salutations:
“Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that you are His Messenger.”
Pilgrims should also offer greetings to the graves of Caliph Abu Bakr and Caliph Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with them).

Visiting Masjid an-Nabawi not only strengthens one’s spiritual connection to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but also brings the history of Islam to life, inspiring the hearts of Muslims across the globe.
